Humble Beginnings

The Western Marketing Association was established in 2008 by a small group of students and an advisor aiming to transform the "Marketing Club" at Western Connecticut State University into a more professional organization. We quickly became an affiliated chapter of the American Marketing Association, and provided our student members with a more professionally driven marketing experience.

On the road from being a campus organization to becoming a professionally-affiliated chapter, we went from having small weekly meetings to recently developing our own student run advertising agency called "Agency@Ancell", where we work with real clients from our community here in Danbury, Connecticut.

We have grown tremendously as an organization since then, by tripling out membership, attending the AMA's annual collegiate conference, and receiving several awards at the conference.

Awards and Recognitions

As an affiliated chapter of the American Marketing Association, we are privileged to send an average of ten students every year to the AMA's International Collegiate Conference in April. While attending this event, our students get the opportunity to network with thousands of other students, businesses, and marketing professionals from around the country.

The Conference also allows our students the opportunity to compete at the national level amongst their peers in numerous marketing related categories. These competitions include SABRE, Sales, Website Development, Recruitment Videos, Chapter Plan, and Exhibit Booth; to name a few. Take a look below to see the recognition our humble chapter has attained in the years since our founding.
